In my Florida divorce case, can I and should I keep the house?
It really depends on your unique situation. If it’s a situation where you have a low mortgage, and you really need to have a low payment, then you may want to keep the house, but I see a lot of cases where the parties have gotten into a house that they really need both of their incomes in in order to pay that mortgage. In that situation, if you cannot afford the house on your own, then it wouldn’t behoove you to keep the house. I would want to sell the house, split the equity, and move forward that way.
