How are assets split in a divorce?

Assets that are acquired from the date of marriage to the date of filing for divorce are likely to be determined to be marital assets and subject to division between the parties.  The marital assets are normally presumed to be split 50/50 between the parties; however, there is a Florida statute that indicates different factors for the court to analyze to determine if an unequal distribution is appropriate.
