What happens if we reconcile and want to cancel the divorce?
If you and your spouse reconcile during the divorce process, there’s a couple of different things that you can do. We have what’s called a motion for abatement, which allows you to kind of put a pause on the divorce for a certain amount of time. I always suggest that that’s probably what you should do first. Put a pause on the divorce and see if you can reconcile. Of course, if you can reconcile your marriage, then you want to dismiss your divorce and you can definitely do that. If down the road, you know 10 years down the road, you and your spouse decide that you do want to eventually divorce, you can always file another divorce but yes, you can dismiss that petition and the divorce is like, it never happened.
